Fertility Treatment Fertility Treatment

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a fertility treatment that uses a catheter to place washed sperms directly into the uterus, and let the sperm and egg fertilize naturally.

There are different forms of IUI:

  1. Natural cycle: to perform IUI on the day of a natural ovulation.

  2. Oral ovulation induction drugs cycle: to take oral tablets to induce ovulation followed by IUI on the day of ovulation.

  3. Superovulation cycle: to stimulate the ovaries with hormones by means of injections in order to increase the egg number. When the eggs are mature, ovulation can be induced by injection and IUI can be arranged.

IUI is used to treat:

  1. Men with mild abnormality in their semen quality;

  2. Women with mild endometriosis;

  3. Couples with unexplained infertility;

  4. Couples who are unable to have intercourse because of physical or psychosexual problems;

  5. Couples who need donor sperms but have no female fertility problems.

As a clinic specialized in providing fertility treatments, we hold the Artificial Insemination by Husband (AIH) License issued by the Council on Human Reproductive Technology for carrying out AIH (or IUI) procedure in the Centre.
